Toby life hack #19- no one can tell if you’ve gotten covered in blood again if you’re already covered in blood!
Life has been pretty uneventful since the end of Titania’s hijacking of faerie reality. Everyone’s just quietly trying to get over their well earned PTSD. Toby herself is about two weeks from giving birth and has been sitting at home enjoying the pampering that Tybalt and her housemates have been smothering her with without going insane at all…
Hahahahaha yeah she’s about ten seconds from busting through a wall like the Kool-Aid man and making her escape. So when what seems like a relatively straightforward investigation comes her way Toby jumps at the excuse to get out of the house. She and her squire Quentin are going to recover some very dangerous stolen artifacts easy-peasy no problem. They’re just asking questions.
Of course it’s a problem, we’ve met Toby before and we know it’s going to be a bloody disaster that she’ll have to wiggle her way out of. This one felt a little more touch and go than it normally is, I was a little more worried for Toby and the gang than I usually am. Bloodier too, which is an impressive feat. There were several scenes that I had to queasily read out of the corner of my eye. The fact that it takes place over a few days ramps up the anxiety and does not let up till the end. Very few threads are tied in this one but many are laid out for the future. I cannot believe I have to wait another whole year for the next. Perhaps it’s time for a re-read.
Also I haven’t forgotten about you (person I suspect is Maeve but I forgot how to put your name in spoiler tags)! I’ve got both eyes trained on you missy! You’re suspicious!
