I think that James the Stanton might be a little crazy. Okay, a lot crazy. Afterall, why would someone write a book (or more actually a zine) called I Think Our Friend Dan Might Be a Dolphin and proceed to make one of the more warped things I have ever read (and honestly I think I’ve read several warped things).
I hated everything about this book. It was too small. It was too blue. It was really really NSFW or anyplace else for that matter. Or at least as far as I was and/or am concerned. The one good thing is that it was short. But if you like that off beat, really not PC and REALLY not PG (I honestly think this might even be heading into NC-17 level of ratings, but at least a R rating) then this is for you.
The cover gives you an idea of the illustrations inside, but there are a few more details. Like a dolphin Dan (in his shirt) making whoopie with a “real” dolphin. Or Dan with his b0ng. Or Dan driving a car. Or….. you get the picture. Frankly I found everything disturbing. I was hoping it would be funny, not a sophomoric Animal House without the laughs (and trust me, those were few and far between). Out of the three reviews I found, everyone liked it. One person said it was weird and they like weird, one said epic zine and then one said they agreed, Dan was probably a Dolphin. And while I don’t disagree with that statement or the title (the cargo shorts with one “leg” and two “feet” basically seals the deal if there was any doubt), I do disagree with the “epic” or “I like (this) weird.”
