There are several books in my “naughty but funny” category when it comes to the “is it butt or face” question in the genre of children’s science books. This time Whose Furry Butt Is That? gets down to the bottom of things and asks the hard questions. Or the question of can you tell who this butt belongs too? There are hints, clues and photographic images. Things are funny and educational. It will get your younger reader interested while they giggle (mommy/daddy/teacher said BUTT!).
In January 2026 you can have yourself a copy of this book by Christianne Jones. Until then you can read the third volume in the Butt or Face? series (created by Kari Lavelle). This time Butt or Face? has Super Goss Butts. And yup, they are gross. There are more facts, photographs, crazy faces and/or butts, and a lot of poop talk. So if you’re not into scat (and I don’t mean singing) you might not want to read. However, it is great for kids (and this big kid). Kari Lavelle’s research must be the best part of her day. After all, she got to sit on her butt to search and write!
And I sat on my butt to read all of these books via online reader copies. That includes Butt or Face? Volume 4: Ador-A-Butts! (due March 2026). Among the animals we learn about is the Pink fairy armadillo (which looks like fuzzy sushi and/or shrimp), a desert rain frog (don’t tell him I thought his face was his butt…) and quokkas (who are probably happier than sloths after all a sloth only poos once a week). Lavelle has done it again with cutie-patooties and their anatomy. After reading about the included animals, in all of the Butt of Face? books there is extra information included to top off the puns and fun you had on the actual animals page.
And of course, do not forget Butt or Face? V01 or Butt or Face? Volume 2: Revenge of the Butts.
