I have to start reading more plays again. This was crazy. I loved every second of it. Devoured every word.
And yes dear readers, I have never seen the movie starring Paul Newman or Elizabeth Taylor so I came into this cold. I of course have seen gifs and memes, but never sat and read this play.
Also, I had zero idea this was a play at first and written by Tennessee Williams.
I am really grateful I sought out a play to read for the CBR17Bingo cannonball read since this was perfection and messy and crazy from beginning to end. The stage directions and different comments on certain people and what this and this means.
And geez. I felt pity for Maggie, for Brick, heck even Big Mama. I think my favorite part of this play was honestly act II when Brick and his father, Big Daddy just have a talk. A long talk, but just talking about death. And man Brick and Skipper. I was shocked that Williams wrote this play in the 1950s honestly.
Just a note, this was written in the 1950s so there is some racist language used which may offend.
But this play right here got me wishing that I could just go and see a play or musical again, but I am straight up boycotting the Kennedy Center (soon to be renamed something Melania Trump) and I may just have to take myself to New York City and get my fix in.
