Well shit, I am all in. This was really good. People who have followed my reviews for a while know that I am a little…iffy on space opera books since I have not had a great time with them in the past. However, I am glad that I let a twee indie book seller push me on to “The Murderbot Diaries.” They were shocked I had never heard of the series and said well everyone is into them now cause of the series…so you all know I was like what are you talking about? They pushed this and another book on me and I have to say, thank you ‘One More Page’ for talking me into this. What a great series! I can’t wait to read more. This book contained the first two novellas and I gave each 5 stars.
“All Systems Red”-here we are introduced to our narrator, that I guess we can call Murderbot. They are on a distant planet with a team of scientists when one of them is attacked by an unknown species. This sets the stage for a lot to be revealed about Murderbot and how humans view them. I thought this was a great novella to not only get you invested in this character, but it’s a great little mystery going on here and you don’t know who is doing what to who. But you don’t want to stop reading. I was all in and felt sad at the ending on novella one, though I got why.
“Artificial Condition”-this was great. I also maybe laughed at Murderbot and ART getting sassy with each other. Okay, I laughed a lot. To the point when I was out, someone asked me what I was reading which was so funny so I told them. They did not get it, but you know, it was still funny to me. We have Murderbot trying to explore what really happened to them an incident we heard about in the first novella. Also they get situated protecting humans some more.
I can’t wait to continue reading this series! 5 stars!
