It’s a cute little story about Lady Teena, resident of the village of Pee Wee, who one day is kidnapped by a dragonfly. After the Butcher, the Baker, and the Candlestick Maker (a tried and true trio for all children’s stories) nope out of the quest (knaves, all of them) Sir Small, a knight smaller than a toothpick, rides off on his little pony to rescue her. I suppose that’s because Dragonflies will eat damsels? Or does it want to keep her just because? Not really important to the story, suffice to say a tiny lady has been kidnapped by a dragonfly.
As every building and character size is well described in the book (the tallest person is no taller than a toothpick), I believe you’re supposed to be able to (and encouraged to) make a diorama to scale with your children based on the book. Seeing as it is geared towards 3 to 7 year olds, I suppose you could with the older children. To be honest; I don’t quite know if this is really geared towards 5 and up or if you would make dioramas with 3 or 4 year olds, but then again I’m an only child and childless, so maybe I just don’t know what is appropriate for what age group.
The art is adorable; the faces are slightly simplistically drawn, but that adds to the charm. And the dragonfly definitely leaning towards the dragon aspect of its name; it has got a snout and forepaws, and for some strange reason its eyes look like the dragonfly is wearing glasses.

(For a Lady-stealing dragon, this thing is kind of cute)

I’d recommend picking this up to read to your kids or have them read themselves, or if you like to collect children’s books for the art.
