I might have read the first Adventures of Penguin and Panda, The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Surprise!, (at the time I was starting the review I did not remember) but I do know I read the second book, The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Fun and Games! by Brenda Maier and illustrated by Fanni Mézes. It is a cute story about friendship and the silly things that happen. It is set up in four stories or chapters and the adventures are happening. And that is for the most part it..
The two friends are in the usual buddy situations. Learning about friendship and being different from each other and a lot of other good stuff. It is not much of a surprise for the adult reader but the younger reader (probably best for at least ages six to nine for solo and/or with help reading, and five and up to be read to) will be finding fresh information and goodies. There are also extras such as jokes, fun facts and How to Draw characters.
There is also a volume three The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Winterfest (volumes one to three are out) and a picture book due in May 2025, Panda and Penguin Find a Thing, and in October 2025 The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: In the Dark volume four will be out.
And when I realized that the series was (mostly) out, I went and found (online reader) copies of volumes one and three. As I was reading volume one I realized I had read it before. It was fine to read it again, as it is a nice series. But volume three was new to me (like volume two had been) with solidly Christmas craziness (and I think it was my favorite of the bunch). Again, this is a nice series, though the themes are a smidgen repetitive, but overall they are enjoyable and have good humor and potential for the ages aimed at.
