Tate moves in with her brother while she returns to school to earn her master’s degree. She’s not looking for love but meets her brother’s friend and neighbor Miles. They think they have the perfect arrangement with neither looking for anything. They have 2 rules: Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. What could go wrong? At first, all is going well, both are following the rules and have no problems with them. They have to find time to see each other between their jobs, he’s a pilot so he’s not always in town, and she’s working and has school. They even have to hide their relationship from Tate’s brother, neither want him to find out what they are doing. Eventually, Tate wants more. Even though Tate wants more, Miles doesn’t. Why doesn’t he want more? Tate can’t ask because of rule number one: Never ask about the past.
I found this book to be a good listen. I went into reading this book because I heard it was good. I didn’t read much of the summary, and went in pretty blind. I naively didn’t realize this was a romance book (what was I expecting about a book with LOVE in the title?) I liked the non-spice parts. I really liked the two different POV, going between Tate in the present, and Miles in the past. I liked how the point-of-view from the past slowly showed how and why Tate has the rules he has.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance. I enjoyed listening as the audiobook had to narrators, but as I don’t typically read romance, it wasn’t one of my favorites.
