I don’t know her. Marvel has had me in their grip since I was a little smidge reading Power Pack. I’ve seen every movie and show except, ironically, the animated What If… series. I might have to rectify that now.

When I saw Seanan McGuire was the author. I could not resist. She knows Marvel and most especially the Spiderverse. The story basically flows right from the title. We meet Wanda as a young adult wishing to join the Avengers, and then spin back in time to see how she joined the Parker family as a baby. We follow along as she and Peter grow up together. Their dynamic together was very sweet. Several comic characters show up that will be familiar to anyone who has watched the movies; no deep knowledge is really needed here. I will say that the ending feels a bit rushed and ends a bit abruptly. This might be because this is the second in a series. I’m not sure how much they are connected and if the characters are to continue in a future book. I enjoyed this as I love McGuire and like the Scarlet Witch and Spider-man as characters enough to check this out. I’m not sure that I’m interested enough to follow the series. But stranger things have happened, mostly in comics!
