This book is from the Wild Robot series, by Peter Brown. This series, and this book in particular, is heartwarming and charming. This book could cheer you up after any kind of day. This also comes with the advent of the movie just released based on the first book, which I have not seen yet, but am excited to. Let’s just get right into it I suppose.
So first, assuming you’ve read the other two books, there are quite a few similarities. It is equally as adorable, and the writing hasn’t changed. It still deals primarily in animals, and Roz is still our main character. It also has the travel element of the second book in this series. However, the difference this time is that the book focuses on a more real world theme. The book is referencing pollution, and directly addresses its effects. This is a bit of a shift from the previous books, though not a large one to be fair, the global effects of humankind were always there, it is just the focal point in this book.
It’s still a really touching and great book, with fantastic characters. Definitely more of a children’s book, though you could obviously read it in order to calm down. It deals with what can be very heavy topics in a very sweet way, and easy to understand. Also the writing style remains very direct, and to the point, which I feel really matches the tone that this book has in general. I do recommend this book. especially if you just want to chill.
