The Huge, Hysterical, Never Terrible Book of Jokes for Kids (Silly Jokes) by Carole P. Roman and Corinne Schmitt is a busy book that covers probably everything known to man, women, child, elephant, salamander, mountains and Martian about jokes, puns, riddles and humor in general. The contributors have taken three different books and combined them into one collection. This makes some of the jokes be repeated in another area. And of course, a theme can be used in more than one type. There are answer keys and even a section to show you how you can make your own joke/riddle/pun/knock knock and yes, more.

The artwork is minimalistic (a few black and white, simpler images here and there to highlight a joke/situation or to introduce the chapter) but works for the theme. Sometimes a page is crowded with a lot of goodies, but take your time. There are white spaces (borders) but still the written word is all over the place. There are also fun facts/extras/silly things that are “boxed in” to give you more info (like the letter E is not only the most popular letter in English, but Dutch, German and more).

Due mid-October 2024, I read the majority of the book. There were a few chapters I had to pass on or at least most of them (the riddles as they did not have “right away” answers and it was hard to “jump” to the answer pages, but read some of them). I was not a fan of the math puzzles, the word puzzles were okay. The knock knock jokes had their moments are straight out puns were usually punny. There is something for everyone, as it does seem to fit several ages, but many things were set up for the adult as much as anyone aged 10 and up.
Answer: Nothing. Bananas don’t talk.
