Fluffle Bunnies V01 Buns Gone Bad is currently available, but I read it, and the sequel, Fluffle Bunnies V02 Big City Buns, (due April 2025) via an online reader copy. Now, Anna Humphrey I will say you are probably a lovely person. I appreciate the hard work and time that goes into creating a book, even a quick read chapter book like this. However, I do not like your bunny siblings, Biggie, Boingy and Flop.
Maybe kids will find things amusing, but I do not find rabbits manipulating (dumb stereotype) raccoons to plug up the playground toilets funny. I also do not find a moth as a stereotypical “city rude old man” (and also not that bright) funny. The bunnies had potential with their less than “all there” mentality, but to become less nice Penguins of Madagascar was not my thing.

Then we have book two, where our moth wants to “make time” with the image in the shiny balloon (his own) starting off on the wrong wing. Then the rats? They were just (cute) rat versions of the bunnies. Then the Mayor’s daughter? Veruca Salt already has her own book. The ending has only one funny moment when Biggie lovingly hugs the book on World Domination, but I think there are a couple of mice (who have their own tv show) who might have something to say about that.
Illustrator, Irma Kniivila, did their best to make the illustrations fun. I am assuming they will be basic detail, black and white and have little “oomph” to them. They are nice, giving you a little bit of what is happening (and showing the Easter Eggs: the book, the name change on the sign) but in the end I couldn’t bring myself to like them. I understand that it is aimed for the six and up crowd, but it was too short, all set up and no pop.
