Have you ever needed a bathroom? Usually you’re close enough to one so there are no issues. Yet, what happens when there are no bathrooms? You just might have a messy situation, that’s what. Now, we all take it for granted. It is just what it is. Though, if you are like me, you might have a story or two (I have done or seen: tinkling on a snake, slipped on some wet leaves, used a (thankfully) one-seater in the middle of winter, and would have gladly used a magazine for a wipe emergency instead of a corn cob). But I don’t think any of my stories could top suctioning a bag to one’s buttcheeks for a number two.
Okay, so I’m better than the astronauts who went up in space? Yup. Or maybe not as desperate as they were. When man first went to space it was supposed to be 15 minutes. Four hours and one messy suit later, we realized we had to find a way for people to boldly go where no one had gone before.
When you read Space: The Final Pooping Frontier by Annabeth Bondor-Stone, Connor White and Lars Kenseth you do not get just the scoop, you find out how to poop all over again. We learn how things were worked out. We learn of the flying poop. We see how Number One makes a reappearance. We learn how lighting and running away from a bag-o-poo takes on a new meaning. We see how they are planning for trips to Mars. And diapers can be for adults as well as my two month old grandniece (I had to get that in there).
The art is cartoonish, so not very serious. But that might help counter the serious matter at hand. It’s not overly colorful, but also is not lacking. The details can be solid and take up space, but sometimes they are simple and fluid. I would have preferred a more realistic look, but it works out. Though the book is currently available, I read this via an online reader copy.
I also read via an online reader, A Stinky History of Toilets: Flush with Fun Facts and Disgusting Discoveries (Wacky Histories) by Oliva Meikle, Kate Nelson, Ella Kasperowicz, and Neon Squid. or at least I read a sample of it. You might not think the body and what it uses to go on and in or around, used to clean and the royal flush connection, but things are pretty pooptastic here too. I plan on getting a physical copy from my library to learn what the stink is all about with the Toilet.
