I have wanted to read We Are Golden: 27 Groundbreakers Who Changed the World by Eva Chen and illustrated by Sophie Diao for ages. And when I found the books “ID number” (or what is known as the ISBN number), I plugged it into the site where I find my online reader copies, and even though it has been out since January 2024, there was still a link.

The description of the size of the book has it as a board book. And since I read online, I am not sure of the dimensions. But I do know that Chen is the author of A is for Awesome!: 23 Iconic Women Who Changed the World which has been a big hit and I am of the school of thought that says: who cares about size? Adults must read this as well as kids. And I’m sure even if it is in the stereotypical board book form (heavier duty, smaller book for smaller hands) tell your reluctant friend READ BY GEORGE THE THIRD!

Almost 30 people of Asian descent are represented. People we know and some new as well. We have athletes, actors, scientists, artists, and many more.. We have the first Chinese actress who would not play stereotypical roles and the first Asian superhero. We have an artist who makes you see spots and a scientist that helped find a way to deal with HIV and AIDS. The format is great by having the name of the person being mentioned, a small biography and an illustration by Diao. However, my online copy was a bit crowded, therefore you might need to take your time with things. Great colors, details and the expressions are fun. For the most part I recognized the people I knew and others (after a little research) also look like the groundbreaker.
