Charlie, Max, and Stevie share a father whose constantly screwing them over and putting them in danger. So maybe it’s not so surprising that Charlie ends up naked and being chased by gunmen on Berg Dunn’s balcony. The bear shifter offers her a shirt and gun, and she’s gone. When their paths cross again, Charlie’s on a mission to keep her sisters safe, and protection specialist Berg is more than happy to help, even if he doesn’t exactly know what he’s getting himself into, and Charlie thinks he’s cute enough to let him tag along, if he can keep up.
Sometimes I just need to put on a movie with action and banter and explosion that I don’t really need to think too deeply about. Movies like The Italian, Job Sahara, Twister, or National Treasure. That’s what this is in book form. There’s a lot going on, and I honestly couldn’t keep track of all the characters that show up or the point points at times. But I just whipped through it. It made me laugh out several times. The sibling relationships are fantastic, and the love interest was genuinely nice guy who just wants to support the sisters. All three of the MacKilligan sisters were interesting, and I loved getting to know them. I do want to see what happens to them next and will definitely check out the other books in the series. The world itself is really interesting, and I’m curious to learn more about it and shifter society. I mostly picked this book up because someone had raved about the series in a review, and it did not disappoint. Four out of five stars.
