I just found the most adorable, easy to color coloring book. It is called, Chinese Zodiac Animals Coloring Book: 36 Prints of Fun and Creativity for Kids. But that should say for Kids and Kids at heart. The artist is Xin Lin. And while the text might not be the most in depth and might be a loose translation of the characteristics of the signs, it is a fun way to introduce the subject. However, the beginning of the book is packed with a lot about the Chinese Zodiac and gives a slightly more detailed definition/information about things.

The focus is a more Western take and follows the “solid year” from January on, though some Lunar years will “overlap” as we are a January to December calendar, whereas the Lunar New Year might not start until mid-January to mid-February and we January/February babies are placed in the “year before” our physical birth. Also, it says “Chinese New Year” and not Lunar New Year, but is still a delightful book. The only real drawback is this book is due in mid-late April 2024 and will not be available for the 2024 New Year.

The images are large and cartoonish, but also have small detail areas simultaneously. This might be difficult for the younger coloring artist, but allows multiple ages and levels. This book allows for a nice way to relax and be a little silly. I find it is a great way for an age-mature adult to keep active and stimulated. Not to mention something you can do with your child or grandchild.
