A “BookTok sensation” I actually enjoyed. It’s a Christmas miracle!

Evie Sage has a family to support but no employment prospects until a chance encounter with The Villain changes her life. She’s now the personal assistant to the kingdom’s deadliest foe. Evie finds that she has a talent for arranging daring heists and managing the evil minions. All is not well in her world though; Evie must search the office to find the traitor trying to spoil The Villain’s dastardly plans against the king.
Full disclosure: I picked this up on a whim because I found the title amusing and then very much enjoyed it. I didn’t find out it was any sort of viral sensation till I went looking for the book cover image to use in my review. I found this book to be very sweet. There’s lots of talk of Evie being ‘pure sunshine’ but I sympathized with her trying to put on a happy face when times are tough. Its okay to think the glass is half full instead of mostly empty. Comparing this to the fairy tale television show Once Upon A Time is fair, I loved that campy nonsense! I picked this up on a rainy Sunday morning and was done by that night. It was a fluffy and light pick-me-up. Great for when your brain just needs a fun-sized Twix of a story.
**It does end on a massive cliffhanger so fair warning if that is a deal breaker or you want to wait till the release of the next book. I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be a trilogy.
