ARC Review:
I am an absolute ho for Miss Emily Rath’s writing, so when she announced the sign up for ARC readers, I may have shoved my husband away so I could fill out the form ASAP. She manages to take what would be your average rom-com and turn it into something truly special. Her books are long, but in the best way, because you never want to leave her characters.
This is the second book in the Jacksonville Rays series about a brand-new Hockey team in Jacksonville, Florida. At the end of the first book, Rachel Price got her happy ending with three members of the team. Her best friend, Tess, is happy for her, but she is going through a messy separation. She has had few romantic prospects, especially since she still is a lawyer at the same firm as her toxic ex and his mother! She did share an intimate kiss with Rays player Ryan Langley on Beach Day, but that’s been it. Ryan, however, has never forgotten Beach Day, so when he sees Tess looking like the knockout she is at Rachel’s wedding, he drags her on the dance floor and flirts with her mercilessly. Of course, pictures are leaked, and Tess’s shitty ex tries to use them to weasel his way back into her life. Instead, she temporarily moves to Jacksonville to get away from him. Rachel lets her stay at Rachel’s husband’s old house they are about to sell. Coincidentally, Ryan gets injured and needs a one story house to stay and Jake also lets him stay at the same house. Wacky and SEXY hijinks ensue.
Emily Rath mostly writes polyamorous stories, and I remember seeing her exclaiming on TikTok and Instagram that she was having a hard time writing this many sex scenes for only two people. I think she did a fantastic job. This book was spicy as Hell, the romance was epic, and I just love love LOVE this series! I have been a fan since her first book and I will continue to be a fan of whatever she writes.
