Reyna and Kianthe are off on their quest to find the missing dragon eggs when they’re roped into helping a local lord deal with a pirate problem with the assistance of a local constable, Bobbie. When Reyna finds out that Bobbie and Serina, the problem pirate, were childhood best friends, she immediately smells trouble and romance. And meddling happens to be one of her hobbies. But the four women will soon find that their issues might be interconnected, and it may take all of them to find a workable solution.
This is a sequel that did not disappoint. I was a little nervous going into given just how much I loved the first book in this series, but it was a fantastic read. I got into the bathtub and started reading this book and I didn’t get out of the bath until it was finished. Bobbie and Serina were great additions to the cast, and it was fun to see Reyna and Kianthe in more mentor like positions. Reyna and Kianthe are still very much in love with one another, and Thorne did a great job of writing an established couple well. It was also nice to see them interact with folks not from their town or their pasts, though we do get to see a few familiar faces.
It was fantastic getting to see more of the world that this series is set in, and we got some fun hints about the next book in the series as well. I don’t want to spoil anything for folks, but the Dread Pirate Dreggs may be a complete scene stealer. I might need an entire book just about them now. The entire book was a delight, and I can’t wait to get my hands on next one. Five out of five stars.
