t’s the perfect mix of romance, light suspense, and adventure. If you love Mr. and Mrs. Smith, After Hours, and Vegas capers, read this! I truly didn’t know what would happen next. The sexual tension between Naveen and Mira was so good. While running for their lives, they wonder if it’s worth giving their relationship another shot. They had clicked before, so it was hard to resist each other. Naveen is rightly hurt by Mira and doesn’t immediately forgive her. Mira has quite a lot of family baggage, but we learn Naveen isn’t perfect either. Over a short period, we see them reconnect and unravel the mess from Mira’s father.

I was lucky to read an ARC of Alisha Rai’s Partners in Crime. My friend Sarah also demanded I read it. She wanted someone to gush about it with before the release. After I read Emmalita’s rave review, I simply had to read it ASAP. It was a tough ask because I have a TBR mountain of books in my house. I did manage to read it before hosting the author’s LA launch event at The Ripped Bodice.
We meet the beautiful Mira as she is dumped by the man she’s seeing. Mira’s family wasn’t good enough for him. Mira has previously rejected more than a few suitors found by her Indian matchmaker, Hema Auntie. It’s a different experience being on the receiving end. Not to mention, he makes her pay for lunch. She soon fears her matchmaker will break up with her too. Before she can worry too much, she is summoned to a law office to receive an inheritance from her aunt. Turns out, said lawyer is her ex, Naveen. The same ex she abruptly broke up with stepped all over his heart. It’s uncomfortable, to say the least. Things take a dangerous turn when they are kidnapped in the parking lot of his office! They wake up tied up and transported o Las Vegas. Some questionable people are looking for something from Mira’s dead father with a criminal past. She doesn’t have it, which isn’t good. Naveen has no idea about Mira’s family, but he valiantly tries to help. Together they scour the city looking for something Mira’s father has likely stolen and stashed. We meet some hilarious and unexpected characters along the way.
I absolutely loved this book and picked it for The Ripped Bodice staff favorites.
