Let’s get it out of the way:
If I had to pick a nose (book), I would pick this one.
I can’t catch my nose, it’s too runny.
I hope I don’t blow this review.
Alan Katz did similar and a few more jokes inside the pages of Got Your Nose! The “you’re never too old for silly fun” is the center of the tale. When Becky’s grandfather Max makes a surprise visit, they sing and play music and end up on a surprise adventure: Catching Becky’s nose. You see, Grandpa Max “got her nose.” Literally. When he hears it in his pocket, just as Becky catches him and says that he has her nose, it escapes in Gingerbread Man fashion, and they are on the hunt.
It is just a silly tale and just a silly good time. There is no real message. And that is okay. This book is meant to be fun and not have some deeper message (well, having fun and fun with multiple generations I guess could be the message). Due in a few weeks (mid-January 2023), this picture book will get you and your children laughing and maybe thinking of your own silly adventures to have.
And since Alex Willan’s illustrations are bold, colorful, simple (not simplistic), and diverse, they allow the younger reader to read them, while older can start reading with help and/or start solo. The action allows the more active child to partake and there are things to see along the way that can catch your eyes, nose, and ear.
