I’m mad at myself because I really liked this one but it’s been since early September that I read it so I kind of forget the specifics of why. I think the next time I read this series I will just read them all back to back and then tab all my favorite bits. Most of which will be about Ronan. Does this make me basic? I don’t care. Basic things are awesome. That’s why they are basic.
Also, just the way this series is written, it’s like it’s one big book instead of four distinct books that make up one story. My brain is already forgetting what happened in which book.
All that to say I don’t remember why or when this book kicks off, but I do remember that it involves spelunking, panic attacks, a person buried facedown (alive) for a thousand years, skeleton riding, and a guy WHO SHOUTS ALL OF HIS DIALOGUE.
In terms of character things, I think this is the one where Adam finally gets over his weird pride thing about having friends who have more than he does and constantly doing things alone. There’s also more cool stuff with Ronan’s family home that I can’t say things about because spoilers. I was annoyed at the antagonists, though. I thought what the last book did with the Grey Man was so unique but here it kind of backslides into villain dullness, in my opinion.
I know that the author was really sick when she wrote book four, but I’ve heard it’s still pretty great, so I’m interested to see what happens both because of that but also because I want to know how it ends.
