Amazing Facts Every 8 Year Old Needs to Know (Amazing Facts Every Kid Needs to Know) by Catherine Brereton, with Steve James on the illustrations is the first book in the series I have read (I believe they rang from age six to ten). It seems to be a cute series about fun, silly and all sorts of facts. And even though it says for ages eight, I think it is great for all ages really (but then again mentally I range from age 8 to 10 but with a supposedly adult nod to the world).
The pages are simple with two to three facts attached to them. There are animals, science, sports and so much more that fill the spaces between the covers. And the art is quick and easy, nothing earth shattering, but gets the job done and done well. They are clever and compliment the information inside.
For the adult reader, things are easy, but I learned a few things. Some were funny and some were exciting. It could work well for the child that asks questions or for the classroom. I would actually get the whole series even if you have younger children as I am sure they will quickly grow into them, plus I am sure they would interest all ages, too.
I would have liked a flashier cover, but the overall size and number of pieces of information included works well. It would be a nice book to tuck into your backpack, and for a quick page or two read before bed.
