It’s not even fall yet, you might be thinking to yourself. Why are we already taking the plunge into cute and cozy autumnal books? Because I’m trying to mentally will it to be fall already. I’m so 100% done with the 80+ degree temperatures that melt my phone mount off my dash in the car (twice now). Give me sweater weather already. Inject pumpkin spice everything into my veins. I’ve already stocked up on more pumpkin spice food stuffs than is probably healthy. Pumpkin pie Kit Kats, pumpkin spice Tate’s cookies, Target’s pumpkin madelines, multiple PSLs and a pumpkin scone from Starbucks, a pumpkin pie Blizzard. That’s all that comes to mind at the moment, but I could very well be forgetting some already.
Now, whereas I love the actual pumpkin spice life, my fiancee is more of an actual pumpkin gal. Not in food, though. She has a display case full of pumpkins, collected mostly from numerous trips to Target, already up, the first thing she saw fit to unpack and put out in the new house. Like me, she wishes we could just fall into fall already. So, when we were at Walgreens the other day, and I saw this book, I had to pick it up. She’d tried to talk me into buying it numerous times in years past at Target, but I’d held off. Seeing it at Walgreens, though, I took it as my sign that I should finally just say screw it and buy the damned thing.
Having read it now, I’m glad I did. This book is positively adorable, one I can’t wait to read to my own little pumpkin pie. It even is anti-black cat discrimination! The illustrations are top notch, and the writing is understated, yet cute as all hell. If you’re in the market for a kids book for fall, look no further than this one!
