I’ve definitely read at least one or two of Agatha Christie’s books before. I’ve also seen a few movies of her books.
The Mysterious Affair at Styles is the first Hercule Poirot novel. I thought it was interesting to “meet” Poirot in his first novel after already seeing him portrayed in a few movies. I pictured Kenneth Branagh, but I guess a younger version while reading this book.
We start with a murder mystery at Styles, which some rich lady’s house. We meet her and the family, and a short time later the rich lady is murdered. We meet all the murder suspects, and hear all the reasons they could or could not have killed the rich lady. I’m sorry, I forget her name.
All the murder suspects have secrets, and many of them had access to the actual poison used to commit the murder. It’s fun to see how Poirot works it out. Yes it makes you feel a little bit stupid that you didn’t see them, but the magic is all there.
