A slice of pizza or an adventure with a lion? Which do you prefer? Well, if you like to read, you do not have to choose! You can pick up either of the early-to-mid-
readers for you and your child/children. Both books are aimed at least ages five and up to be read to, but at least six and up could start reading solo (and/or assistance).
Pizza My Heart (Norma and Belly, #3) by Mika Song is a series that is still cute, but for the adult reader, I am less than impressed anymore, but the kid in me enjoys the goofy and the adventures. It is exactly what you expect in all ways. The artwork is simple, but it is clever and cute. There is a bit of all of us in these crazy, lovable, squirrels as they will do anything to get themselves some pizza. Even take on a scary cat! Feeding the tummy was never so much work or fun.
Expedition Backyard by Rosemary Mosco and illustrations by Binglin Hu is a cute story about friendship and adventures. While there is nothing new, it is fresh and great for the little adventure seeker in your life. The set up makes it great for a new chapter reader, or a chapter a night read aloud. The artwork is simple, but not simplistic and you need to read them as much as the minimal text. The characters Mole and Vole are maybe not the brightest in the forest, but they have a lot of heart!
