From the creators of the incredibly popular social channel, The Happy Broadcast, comes an illustrated book packed with 150 wholesome, positive facts for kids to learn from and enjoy.
The above paragraph is the theme of the book 150 Happy Facts by The Happy Broadcast. I did not read every page, but most of it as I went back to the pages I
missed. Here we see the good side of today’s issues. We see that giraffe populations are increasing. Rhino poaching officially is at zero for the recent year. The pandemic has allowed for many mental health advances to counter the troubles (a pep talk hotline by school kids to name one) and other mental health advances such as being legally prescribed time in nature. We find that people are not all crappy, some take forty years of their lives, and, with the help of his village, he plants trees. Wales donates a tree in Wales and Uganda for every child born. England gives worms to assist in your composing. And so much more, like the “pee-recycling” efforts (which made me think, well when grandma and dad answer with, “I p**s in them” to “How do you get such nice plants?” they were/are not too far off).
You will find happy facts about sports, animals, and everything in between and even if you’re an old grump like me, some might tear you up, others will make you laugh, and some will be fist pumping YES! And all of this is illustrated in simple, easy to view imagery. There is “nothing special” but they fit the tone with their almost abstract realistic-like format.
Yes, some people might think it is a bit too “Pollyanna” or even a bit too politically correct (there are facts about vegetarian/veganism vs. meat eating), but it is still a fact, and it is out there. If nothing else, it might start a few conversations.
And while I am not going to run out and listen to The Happy Broadcast by Keith Bonnici (author of the book), I might investigate other books they have created. And if Mauro Gatti is the illustrator again, all the power to it!
