Finally, it’s here! As soon as I saw bits of art from the manga, and the trailer for the upcoming anime, I knew I had to add this series to my to-read list. Thankfully, after the long wait, caused by seemingly no place having a readily available copy of the first volume, it doesn’t really disappoint. Is it an especially mature read? Oh, hell no. Our main character is driven by the desire to touch boobs, in essence. There’s much more to it than that, but it is one of his key driving factors in this volume, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t revert back to high-school age Travis and laugh at it in spite of myself. I was torn constantly between that and finding it grating how women are treated as objects. I think I settled on being mostly okay with it because it’s mostly them using his single-minded focus against him to get him to do their bidding. He’s just a freaking dunderhead who the women treat like a literal dog, to the point that his boss requests that he responds with a “woof.” So, all in all, it’s a crazy dynamic that works for me because of that insanity. You never know where it’s taking you next. One moment, you’ll be deep in your feels for a character, whereas the next the main character will be crotch-shotting another guy multiple times in a row in a fight saying he only goes for the crotch. Basically, it’s the sort of thing that teenage Travis would’ve absolutely eaten right the hell up, and it puts me right back in that headspace reading it. So I’m willing to let things slide for the sake of a fun ride.
