CBR Bingo: Scandal
So i recently found R/romance books. This has been educational in many ways. there are whole sub genres that i have remained blissfully ignorant of. One of those is “I am hot for my boyfriend/exboyfriend’s father”. This book is apparently a good example of the genre, which i am not likely to read many more of.
So, the heroine (Jordan) is celebrating her 19th birthday and her shift has finished early. Her boyfriend isn’t answering his phone, he has their working car and was supposed to pick her up in a couple of hours so she goes to a late showing of Evil Dead. While there she has a meet cutish with an older guy- they chat and hang out. When they leave the theatre no sign of boyfriend, and both their phones go off. Boyfriend has been arrested for noisy party, older guy (Pike) is his father.
The noisy party (to celebrate Jordan’s birthday) results in them losing their apartment. They are broke, they move in with Pike. Pike and boyfriend’s mom (they have names, i have just forgotten them) split when he was very young, they were young parents, and mom didn’t like home parenting much, hence why Jordan has never met him.
Pike and Jordan repress their attraction, but boyfriend is an ass, cheats on her. He moves out, she has nowhere else to go and eventually they get together. Scandalous, because he is twice her age and her ex’s father. But she has a mature soul. There are problems, son finds out, she runs away for the rest of the summer, Pike eventually finds her and they reunite.
There is definitely sex in the book, they each get a self love moment as well, i was just not invested in it.
This genre is not for me, I kept having logic questioning moments and the momentum of the story did not carry me past them.
I finished the book, and i did read it fairly fast, so 2 stars. Now that i have read it, i can remove it from Kindle unlimited
