If you have not guessed graphic novels and I became friends a few years ago. And now I love trying all sorts of books. And when I found a copy of Click V03 Act, I was excited to give it a try. I figured it would be light and quick (it was) and I would be able to enjoy it without having to deal with “really deep” storylines.
And it is a fun story about friendship with contemporary themes and tone. It is best for the ages 10 up the best, but the concepts and content is acceptable for younger as well. It is sweet, strong and has colorful illustrations. The details to the artwork are simple but as needed to comment the story.
And the story is one we know. Olive is a middle schooler who is having friendship issues. Her best friend might like a guy more than her. That guy is helping two other friends of theirs for the class elections. The same election Olive is running in. There is schoolwork, learning about activism, enjoying your family time and figuring it all out. Characters are quirky and fun. They have good points, not so good points, and sometimes are not as serious as they should be.
And while it will help reading the first two in the Click series by Kayla Miller, it is fairly easy to start with this third book. Fans of Raina Telgemeier, Shannon Hale, Jennifer Holm and Terri Libenson should pick up this graphic novel series as well.
