I am not a baby person. Or so I tell myself. Sure, I wonder why people want a little alien creature, but once they come into this world, I am usually the one that will spoil them with books, ice
cream and teach them about Rocky Horror Picture Show. Since all the babies I know currently are not ready for ice cream or Rocky, I will stick with recommending books.
If you need a book for a first birthday either of these books work, but You’re Loved by Liz Climo is the better of the two for that particular event. This is a sweet story about life and parents and children. Marking the milestones of childhood and parents, the wonder of growing up is perfectly displayed. Climo also has their signature illustrations with cute colors, details at the minimum amounts but perfectly catering to the young viewer and familiar looking characters. You’re Loved also works great for a baby shower or really an anytime gift. Due early April 2022.
With, Meet the Baby, Pout-Pout Fish (a Pout-Pout fish adventure) we have a book that is perfect for a new baby gift, or more accurately, for the new older sibling. This adorable little book is created by Deborah Diesen and Dan Hanna. When there is a new fish under the sea, everyone is excited to introduce them to Mr. Fish. And Mr. Fish learns much about babies. Hanna’s illustrations are adapted well for the toddler crowd with the right details, little gems, and colors. Due January 2022 this board book will be a great addition to your collection of books.
