“I cannot finish this book.” Was my first thought only a handful of pages into Dinosaur Explorers V08: Lord of the Skies by Albbie. Yet, I got about probably about halfway thorough before I noticed that the chapter I 
was on had no new images. Everything had been repeated (or seemed to be) to the point I was wondering if there was a mistake and a few pages just keep getting repeated over and over. It was an eBook, but still, I could see it programmed incorrectly. Eventually I finished it. But trust me, I was less than impressed.
It is a graphic novel that takes a time traveling set of kids and two adults and tosses them in the middle of Dinosaur Adventures. I can believe in time travel. I can believe time traveling to dinosaur eras. I can believe that the anime/manga look is a good format for the story. I like that there are stopping points to give you facts about dinosaurs. I cannot believe the cartoonish behavior of the characters: the scientist is mad, the boys’ stereotypes (big guy is not the smartest egg and is the muscles. The glasses kid is smart and somewhat whiny. The Pokemon trainer-wanna-be is the arrogantly annoying hero. Not to mention a pervert spying on the preteen/teen girl and the 30 something woman in the hot springs). And there are obviously some issues with my brain and the text as it was not flowing for me as I would like, making me wonder if it is a translation. (My brain has hard time with translations from some languages.)
This is the 8th book in a series, thankfully there was a recap to let you know who these characters are and what they have done, so you are not jumping in blindly. Yet, this is also a solo story, without needing to know heavy details about the others, but what you have helps. Ages 8 to 12-13 could be the best audience (due to the action side) but if you just read the dinosaur facts, almost any age can enjoy.
