BINGO I WISH
This is another review by Lala, the 11 year old. She is the biggest Harry Potter fan and chose this book to review for the Bingo I Wish category, because who doesn’t wish they could be at Hogwarts?
My favorite book in the Harry Potter series is the 1st one, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone if you are reading the American version). I like this book best because it is the beginning. It sets up all of the characters and all of the locations so you can really see them in your imagination. I wish it had more to say about the Ravenclaws though because that is my favorite house, and its characters are underestimated. But maybe that is why it is my favorite. I think that Gryffindor house is over rated.
I always wondered why Hermione was not in Ravenclaw, because she is clearly the smartest student in her grade. (Although in other books she is called one of the greatest witches of her age). The sorting hat did consider putting her into Ravenclaw. But then I realized that if it did put here there, it would ruin the plot, since the other main characters are in Gryffindor, and a lot of the action takes place in the house common room. Also, Ravenclaws are not just smart, but are also open minded and creative. Hermione can be creative sometimes, but really is mostly a strict rule follower that does not deviate from what the books say. If you look at Ravenclaw’s most famous character, Luna Lovegood, she is definitely creative and open minded in a way that really annoys Hermione (Luna is also underestimated by others).
Fun fact about Hogwarts, the school motto is “Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon,” which is the translation from Latin. I think that any school that has this as its motto is worth a visit!
