Sunny is a cute and interesting story about seeing the (literally) Sunny Side of Life. Celia Krampien has created a story with a good 
flow to the text and the cute illustrations make this a comfortable read. Most ages will enjoy following Sunny (our girl narrator) as she goes along the path to her destination. If there is one thing about the book I do not like is the fact that Sunny might be too optimistic. I cannot imagine that everything is good. Or is it?
The fantastical events that surround her can be taken one of two ways: the first is that she literally is blown away by the wind and has the adventure of a life time on a boat that is conveniently placed in the middle of the ocean to save her; an adventure that includes some special friends at the end (that shows Sunny might not always be sunny) and an adventure that only a child could truly have. Or you could take it the second (and more realistic route) Sunny’s imagination has taken the everyday and turned that into the most amazing parts of her day. After all, the entire journey takes only the time between walking to school and getting there a bit late.
There is something for everyone, but the younger reader might enjoy Sunny more than the older child. However, this (with some help) the beginning to middle-beginning reader could most likely read. If you are looking for a book that will help someone find the silver lining even on a gloomy day, this is the book you need.
