Continuation of the Questioneers books we now have Sofia Valdez, Future Prez. This is everything the others were. There are no surprises and that is perfectly okay. You do not need anything special other than seeing what one kid can do when she puts her mind to it. However, this time (for me) we have gone too many times for this theme. That is not to say I did not enjoy it, I just have pretty much figured out the stories and while I will probably read future ones, I do not feel they will have the same impact as the others have had.
Yet, fans of the series will not be disappointed. There is a wonderful story about how a new friend, Sophia, (and a few of your old friends) can help fight city hall and help their community as well. This is right along the same level of the others. Sofia is a go-getter, even if she has a not so impression second grade voice. This time our character is fighting to clean up her neighborhood. Colorful illustrations that an adult can find interesting to look through (a few modern twists and turns come up) and kids will just love the colors and excitement they show.
Everything you loved about Andrea Beaty and David Roberts’s Rosie Revere, Engineer, Ada Twist, Scientist and Iggy Peck, Architect is still here. You see a new family dynamic (Sofia and her grandfather are close, and it is when he is injured that Sofia knows she has to do something) but it is the same rhyme and cozy story you have grown to love.
