The Most Wonderful Gift in the World by Mark Sperring is a cute story about the true meaning of the holiday of Christmas, even if it also has secular elements 
and deals with Santa as well.
Our friends, Esme and Bear, are excited for Christmas and their gifts. When they see the last gift, however, it is not for either of them; but for someone else. Bear wants to open it, but Esme says that the recipient, Little Bunny Boo-Boo, needs her gift, too. So off they go into the Treacherous Path and through the Howling Gale and fight deep snowdrifts to deliver the package. When they finally get there, they see that Little Bunny Boo-Boo does not have a single gift! Or does she?
Santa’s gift to our bunny friend shows what the best gift anyone could receive. It is all tied up nicely with illustrations that are fun and colorful. There is a cozy feeling to the overall atmosphere of the story, even when there are the moments when they are going through the path, gale and finally the deep snow drifts. This, of course, is explained at the end why this is important.
I am curious if you are to believe this is a Christopher Robin-type story where he imagines or if there really is a goofy, talking bear and a sweet girl named Esme having adventures. Either way, it is a story that you can read really anytime of year, even with the Santa Claus cameo, because in the end, this story is about friendship.
