So my friend got me started listening to a true crime podcast based on the most recent story she heard. It was about a pig farmer named Robert Pickton. He was apparently a semi-notorious Canadian serial killer. I didn’t even know that Canada had serial killers!
She told me about a book that they kept mentioning, but it was like $15 and I didn’t feel like spending any money that day, so I borrowed the Kindle Unlimited version of the story from Amazon. Well, it was fine, but I got what I paid for. I’m excited to get to the Robert Pickton story on the podcast, and I’m eventually going to get and read the $15 book, because it’s a super interesting story.
Anyway, him and his brother inherited a pig farm after his parents died, and sold off some of the land that was somehow worth a million dollars. Robert and his brother lured down on their luck prostitutes to their farm and had wild parties that occasionally (at least 49 times) led to their murders. He also dismembered their bodies and fed their body parts to his pigs. Like I said – this is a really interesting story. I definitely want to read the longer version. I’m afraid the details are going to be a little gruesome though.
So I’m using this for my #History/Schmistory cbr11bingo square since it all happened in the 1980’s. I was born in the 1980’s, so I feel confident calling that time period “history”. I’ll follow up with the rest of the story once I read it!
