Sea Bear: A Journey for Survival is a lovely illustrated picture book. It is also an easily accessible story for almost any age. Lindsay Moore has a quaint story about a bear and 
the day to day activities it must do to survive. And while the life of a polar pear is not easy, she shows the world, so it is not too dark. It does mention that the bear eats the seals and such but does not show you this in any graphic detail.
The illustrations are the colors of the arctic. Blues and whites mostly cover the page as the polar bear tells you their story. They have the right amount of detail while also having an almost surreal quality to them. The story facts are simple and tell a basic story. There is an afterwards that deals with more detailed information and the environmental issues the polar bear and the other animals of the area are facing. It also includes information about other animals mentioned in the story or live (as it says on that page) “above and below the ice.”
The publisher description mentions that the author’s background in marine science played a role in their interest in the subject and why the story is informative as well as fun. Even adults could learn a few things (such as the migration of the polar bear after the ice starts to melt: by swimming miles to land) as well. And Moore’s text is poetic but also straight forward.
