This graphic novel collects a crossover between the Gold (Adult) and Blue (Teen) X-Men teams as they battle against interdimensional entertainment entrepreneur Mojo. Once again on the hunt for ratings, our villain destroys a section of NYC to trap our heroes in an ever-escalating battle against current and classic foes. There are deaths until there aren’t and our heroes are losing until they deus ex machina themselves out of another jam, defeating and exiling Mojo to our planet, cut from his feed. Erstwhile Blue Team trainer Magneto makes his usual bucketload of threatening statements and comes to save the day with reconciled daughter Polaris and endlessly-capable AI (until she isn’t) Danger. Longshot shows up as his usual charming self, currently functioning as Antifa to Mojo’s Fa. Kitty has it out with Magneto at the end in a argument that feels important but honestly, doesn’t add up to much. Rachel Summers, now called Prestige, continues her plunge/rise in power as her hound aspect (from Age of Apocalypse) is pushed to its limit. Old Man Wolverine gets to hang out with Young Teen Wolverine and bond a little. Mojo, trapped on Earth, makes threats in a sewer, surrounded by the lackeys that got stuck here with him (who, if you ask me, should take the opportunity and bail).
The art by Mike Mayhew, Marc Laming, Diego Bernard and Jorge Molina is very good to great, with lots of interesting perspectives and nice, emotional face work
Entertaining but typically lightweight, as is the way for most crossovers. For completists only.
