I read this because it was short and a classic. I’ve seen the movie, but somehow I never had to read this book. It took me a couple nights reading while I was laying in bed at night. It was definitely interesting, but it was a little slow. I honestly don’t read a lot of classics, so it could just be that I’m not used to the pacing of books written a long time ago.
I don’t know. I didn’t love it, and I didn’t hate it. I just wrote another review where I felt like nothing really happened. I kinda felt the same way about this one.
Ichabod Crane is a schoolteacher in the village of Sleepy Hollow. He’s in love with a girl, and scared of the legend of the headless horseman.
I’m glad I read it, but I wouldn’t say that I’d recommend it to anyone.

This was another short story that I found for free on Kindle. (Well, I say free, but I pay for Kindle Unlimited, so it’s not really free). It was a quick read, and it touched on some interesting topics.
The story starts out with a girl who recently tried to commit suicide. She’s young, and feeling sad, and haunted by her father’s suicide. Unfortunately she has a stepdad who is a total asshole and treats her like garbage. She feels like nobody cares about her and she’s all alone.
Eventually her mom realizes what’s going on and stands up for her. It’s a short story, so there’s super quick resolution, but it made me think about how people who try (or succeed) to commit suicide feel. I always thought of it as a selfish act, but I can’t imagine feeling so alone and depressed that you think that’s your only option.
