The protagonist, Beatrice, is feeling stifled by her well-known artist parents and literary genius sister. While sick with a cold at home, she makes a wish and magic bird poop splats on her empty notebook. Yes, magic bird poop.
Because she was sick, she missed the move in day at her local college. Therefore, it’s too late to complain about her cockroach infested dungeon of a dorm room. Which seems ridiculous since it’s definitely a lawsuit that Beatrice could win and therefore end this book early.
Lucky for her, a super famous female influencer, Veruca, is living in her dorm and needs Beatrice to ghostwrite a blog about Veruca’s life. In exchange, Beatrice will get mucho money and a room in her luxurious mansion-sized dorm room (more magic).
Besides this job landing her in trouble with school, friends, and family, Beatrice also stumbles onto a nefarious plot to defraud the artist world. And my soul.
This book was like a Cinderella story but there was no need for Cinderella to be saved. Beatrice was going to be fine no matter the outcome of the story. And the whole magic part of it felt completely unnecessary or maybe it was just confusing. Also, there were other people out there that needed magic intervention way more than Beatrice did. Like, literally anyone else.
