I just really miss Legend of Korra. That is my main takeaway from reading this three-part comic series over the last year. I just did a rewatch of Avatar the Last Airbender and Korra at the beginning of the year, but I might have to do another one. It’s just so good.
I think I might have also read this wrong. I read each issue as they came out, and looooved the first one. But the second two, less so. It had been months since I read the preceding issues, and I felt a little disconnected. It also felt like they were missing my favorite parts of the show, which are the quiet moments, the emotional moments. The only thing that clicked for me like that this time around was Korra and Asami’s relationship, which is A+. I just wish, mostly, that the show hadn’t been canceled and we got to see all of this play out over a series of episodes rather than a comic. I also really don’t like Tokuga as a villain, and I think he is a bummer when all that other cool stuff is happening. The art is still beautiful, and the characters behave as they should. I think it’s just me 🙁
I am basically a party pooper.
I am going to re-read all three of these comics eventually, and all in a row, and maybe I will be less grumpy about them.
