A great read despite a few flaws. This book follows a couple as they go on their honeymoon and find a bag full of money. What do they do? What would you do? Turn it in or keep it for yourself??
This book follows the couple through their daily lives and challenges and how that is impacted with the discovery of the bag of money.
The pros to this story for me involved a few things. Firstly, great characters being introduced into the novel (through Erin’s documentary involving criminals about to be released), which constantly had me wondering if and how they might be involved in the events that occur. Catherine managed to develop these characters so well that they were very intriguing. There were some fabulous twists in the story that were well revealed – allowing the reader to begin to work them out without the need for an obvious explanation and in a timely manner, ie not dragging it out. The ending was also reasonably satisfying.
The cons for me were the main characters. I was quite frustrated by a lot of their choices and how they developed, Erin especially. Her constant “I just love him so much” became boring and annoying very quickly and unbelievable especially as events unfurl. How quickly her character changes throughout the story is also at a ridiculous pace. Now I know when you read books you should suspend reality, but her development did not fit in with the rest of the characters or the pace of the novel. Her husband Mark also changes throughout the story, this is done in more of a revealing way rather than as a chameleon effect. Again, something is off with the pace at which his character changes.
Despite the cons, overall I enjoyed the book and am giving it 4 stars.
