Tomorrow I’ll Be Brave by Jessica Hische is an interesting take on being brave, adventures and trying new things. The narrator has done many things today and tomorrow they will try to do them all over again. They will keep trying if they did not make it today or even if they did not make it tomorrow. They know that is okay.
Tomorrow I’ll be all the things I tried to be today:
Adventurous, Strong, Smart, Curious, Creative, Confident, & Brave.
And if I wasn’t one of them, I know that it’s OK.
The text is to encourage everyone to keep going. To never stop. To never give up. The story is an uplifting and positive story.
The illustrations are soft, bright and most definingly fit the text. The colors are deeper but not depressing or sad. They do not jump off the page, but are soothing and vibrate at the same time. Everything is very simple, but there is a strong message. Always the bookseller, I ponder on who should buy this book. The answer is teachers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles. In short, everyone. A good baby gift, a good first birthday gift, a good gift for the child trying something new (going to school, moving, etc.) Also, you could give this to an adult who is having a difficult time in their lives.
The age of the listener would be ages 3 to low 8-years-old. The reader could be a higher 7 to 8-year-old. Bed and story times will equally benefit from this picture book.
