I could sit here and tell you everything about it. The jokes, the puns and all the rest. However, that is obvious. The illustrations are sparse but the photographs of our Monster are perfectly added. He even tells you why the pages all have a giant bite out of them. Cookie’s tone comes across exact and you will hear his voice in your head. You also will have to read many (if not all) of his crumbs of wisdom out loud to your friends and you will hear yourself fall into the voice of Cookie Monster. There are also a couple of recipes to follow to make some of these delicious treats.
I know that I will be giving this book as a gift to many people. It could be a graduation gift from college and possibly even high school (I am debating if it will be good for a 19-year-old boy who is graduating from the National Guard in a few months…). Or a birthday gift for the adult that has everything. Also, a gift for the person who really is into cookies. It also could be a bridal shower gift.
The Joy of Cookies is not going to be a classic, but it will be one that you will remember long after the last cookie….page….has been devoured.
