I really love the Iron Druid Chronicles and Scourged is a great finale. I’m hard pressed to think of many other series wherein we see so much growth in the main character. I find this especially true given the series is 9 books long plus several novellas and a collection of short stories. It seems as though it would be very easy to become formulaic and keep the main character exactly the same but Kevin Hearne does not do that and it make me very happy.
The Iron Druid Chronicles is a very nerdy series. I found it while looking for things like the Dresden Files. It’s Urban Fiction about a 2,000 year old druid and his adventures, almost all of which are a result of the things he has done or is doing. The best part is his dog, an Irish wolfhound naked Oberon. Atticus and Oberon can talk to each other and Oberon speaks as a very intelligent version of how you might assume a dog would talk. He also wants meat and gravy and loathes squirrels. The audiobook is narrated by Luke Daniels who is OUTSTANDING and his Oberon is just delightful. These two novellas are from Oberon’s point of view and were the perfect come down from that feeling you get when you finish a longer series that you really enjoy.
Check this series out but give it a couple of books and you’ll fall in love with Oberon too!
