Ah Janet. Where to begin. Or should I start saying, “when should I stop?” I am an avid fan of the Stephanie Plum series. And as I mentioned in a previous review, despite being up to book 24 in the Stephanie Plum series, and despite every book following the same formula, each book is a quick easy read guaranteed to have me chuckling.
Every now and again I venture out and try one of Janet’s other book endeavours. So I read Curious Minds. I believe this will be book 1 of the Knight and Moon series. Named so from the two main characters Riley Moon and Emerson Knight.
Again, the book was a very easy read, had a few funny moments along with the sexual chemistry present as in most of her stories. There was some intrigue, and a crime that needed solving.
Unfortunately for me, I am going to have to draw a line and say no more. This is another book where the main character Riley, is portrayed as the less intelligent female who is again seduced by good looks and money of the male co lead Emerson. Naturally it is Emerson who solves all the problems and spends a majority of the book making suggestive remarks towards Riley.
Yes, I know, for all other crazy Janet fans out there, I know she has written the Kate O’Hare series – around an intelligent FBI woman, however there is still the ‘attractive bad boy’ co star in those books.
Janet, I am not sure how much longer I can continue to read your novels that all contain the same female characters. Please, please, please, write a novel where the main character is a strong, intelligent female who is able to solve crimes independently and successfully and does not need a male counterpart or a male love interest in her life to validate her reason for existing.
