I maybe reviewed this last year. But I like to read Anthem with students because it’s more or less interesting, the themes are super bold-type obvious, and the novel is short.
Here’s what 12th graders thought of it.
“hate the book, and now that it’s my third time reading this i hate it just that much more. basically i would use this book as a fire starter.”
“I liked the book. It was very interesting the whole time I was reading it. It was different from other dystopian novels and I liked that.”
“My honest review this was not my favorite book.It was kind of boring to be and I did not like the concept of the book i don’t even know the purpose of this book.”
“the book was good, i liked reading about a different society, then what we live in. I also liked the context of the novel”
“hard to understand did not like it”
“Anthem was a good book and very well made up. The author has to have a good imagination and be pretty smart to come up with the idea. It was a good book and i would recommend it to others”
“the novel is well plotted it give background of the society that the main characters live in which alows the reader to picture what it would be like to live in that society to better conect with the characters”
“to be honest i think the book is interesting in some ways but i would never read it outside of school or even if im bored, so i dont really like it.”
” I thought that is was very, very interesting and exceptionally different from the other things i have read lately. It had romance, danger, a vague yet threatening society, a spectrum of different characters, and most of all a idea that we could all relate to. Throughout the book i thought the unspeakable word was love so i was surprised when it was ego but then it made sense because the whole book has so many scenes about choices we make based on our ego. Furthermore the society the characters were in knew that ego was something that could destroy people and the society they are in which adds to the suspense.”
“It was very confusing to understanding but by the middle to the end i started to really like this book and understand it more.”
“I enjoyed the novel but i just didin´t understand it at some points in the book at some points.”
