The Meat-Eaters take on the Veggiesaurs in a hockey match for the Jurassic Ages! History will be made! Fans of dinosaurs and hockey will love this book for young readers. Funny text that has a poetic, bouncy flow to it makes it a read aloud that adults and kids will love. With extremely full, vibrant, pop off the page colors and cartoonish characters, there is a lot to see. Do note that it could be hard to pronounce some of the names of the dinosaurs if you are not familiar with them.
Dino-Hockey is straight forward. No real surprises. You do wonder who might win, until you see the Meat-Eaters start playing dirty.(Spoiler alert: Veggiesaurs win). The ending tells you “Do not worry the fun is not over yet. Soccer is around the corner.” And shows you the gangs gearing up for a new sport and game. There are others in the series if your child is not into hockey. Other titles cover baseball, soccer, swimming, dancing, football, basketball, boarding and even race car driving. Lisa Wheeler and Barry Bott must have fun creating them and children will have fun reading and listening to them. Possibly the Dino series may not become a classic that is passed down through the generations, but will most likely become a favorite of the child reading it or having it read to them. Therefore, parents beware! This might become the book your child will want to read over and over and over and over…
