So this is book two of a series I started at book three. I finished books three and one in CBR9, so I might as well start out CBR10 with the middle of a series! That’s just how I roll…
I continued on with this series because I like the main characters. I probably said that in my reviews for the other two books too, but it’s true. They’re smart, intuitive, human cops. They make mistakes sometimes, but they’re usually right when they trust their instincts.
We start out this book with a few different things going on at once. The main story is that somebody’s golf buddy’s daughter has gone missing. DS Evans is pulled off her normal work to find the girl. They eventually find her, but then a bigger mystery starts. She’s asking about her friend that she was with at the party. She’s missing. It was a weird party too. All the guest were underage teens, and there were creepy old men in the shady sidelines. I mean personally, it sounds like a great time!
They basically have to figure out a few things:
- Does this friend exist?
- Who is she?
- Where is she?
- What’s up with these weird old man drinking parties?
And then there’s this whole other side case, where a girl had been missing for seven years (I think). Her mom never got resolution, because her body was never found. Unfortunately, the police have to keep pushing her case off to find the current (presumably alive) missing girls. I liked this book 🙂
